TheLiterati was born of the dream of FiendishFem and BoboFiendish. Every guild we had ever joined had been a miserable failure. No one was ever on, no one ever talked, and no one ever offered assistance.
We knew what a guild could be and we were pretty sure what a guild should be. But, would it be a possible? We saw visions of 30 people logged on at once with a blur of purple text streaking up the screen. We saw guild members posting free equipment and quest items simply because one of their own may need it. We saw members asking for assistance and several people replying in the affirmative that they were on the way. We saw very young members finding a guild where they were accepted and given any assistance they needed to get going. We saw older members finding a haven where discussion could be intelligent and the overall tone was mature. We saw chat that was not in gibberish ch4t 5p34k but real English, with capital letters and periods and everything and members were able to express themselves without using a steady stream of profanity. We saw a place where people could gather for fun, never worrying about being picked on, made fun of or harassed. We saw a place where people were accepted for who they were and not chastised for it. We saw a group of individuals that were kind and thoughtful, caring and giving, helpful and intelligent. We saw a group where every member was important from the level 15 new guy to the level 85 old timer.
In essence, we saw a family. Brothers and sisters in Maple, if you will.
And, I think that most of this has been accomplished. We are not too far from that sunny day in February of 2007 when TheLiterati was made a reality. But, we still have a lot to do. TheLiterati is always looking for members of every level, every gender, and every job. We are and ever-expanding guild where each new member brings something special to our ranks, where cliques don't exist and once accepted into the fold you never want to leave.
